Ο Bruce Springsteen έγραψε και ηχογράφησε το κομμάτι μέσα σε λίγες ημέρες, αντιδρώντας στη βία που άσκησαν ομοσπονδιακοί πράκτορες του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικής Ασφάλειας (ICE / DHS) στην πόλη — περιστατικά που οδήγησαν στο θάνατο δύο κατοίκων, της Renee Good και του Alex Pretti.
